The 3.0L V-6 is rated at 264 horsepower (197 kW), which delivers an EPA-estimated 25 mpg highway, 17 mpg city. For 2011, it also offers FlexFuel capability that allows the Equinox to operate on gasoline, E85 bioethanol or a combination of both. E85 comprises 85 percent bioethanol, a domestically produced, renewable fuel that produces fewer greenhouse gases in the combustion process, and 15 percent gasoline.
